Top five office furniture innovations for 2024
The world of office furniture is always evolving and it's exciting to be at the forefront of developments for our clients. Having reviewed our manufacturers' most recent releases, our top five selections to hit the headlines in 2024 are as follows:
Frovi – Puffa Chair
Frovi's newest collection is cleverly designed with the idea/thought process of a chair, providing a jacket-like warmth and the look and feel of cosiness stemming from the features of a functional Puffa jacket. The chair comes with options to have either the high ‘Puffa jacket’ screen or a low back with a ruched detail or plain finish. There's also a footstool included in the range. You can learn more about the Puffa here.
Humanscale – Smart Conference Chair
The Smart Conference Chair is extremely comfortable while still managing to retain an executive look and feel with minimal knobs and cogs. Humanscale also offer a very good sustainability story alongside being one of the industry’s leading ergonomic chair experts. There are more details on Humanscale here.
Connection – Nest
Connection's Nest system is a great collection of multipurpose furniture. Placed together they create a honeycomb effect with the option to adapt the finishes from fabrics to faux leathers and to add in planter units. They can also be stacked up onto themselves creating extra floorspace and can even incorporate a whiteboard, making them perfect for collaboration areas. There's more on the Connection Nest system here.
Boss – Remi Chair
The Remi is a great new chair which features a swivel base, allowing it to be more versatile and dynamic with its positioning within corporate settings. The more upright back takes it beyond a traditional 'comfy' lounge chair and the overall concept is one of echoing the beauty and serenity of the natural world. Modus – Balance Chair
The Balance Chair has been a key item within the Modus range for a while now and they have just expanded it to offer a few more variations within the selection. Among these are the Balance Lite high-back chair, which doesn’t have the enclosed arm detail included with the standard Balance chair, thus allowing it to be more versatile. The Modus range is covered here.
Summary
For Emma Webster, Head of Furniture at The Workspace Consultants, innovating in the area of furniture can be a point of difference for office design and project management specialists. 'Here at The Workspace Consultants we pride ourselves on staying ahead of the game and specifying the very latest furniture designs,' comments Emma. 'Gone are the days when it was a case of simply sitting down with a client, leafing through a few catalogues and making a quick selection. Events such as the pandemic have demonstrated the need to drill down to plan and specify furniture that fits both the office design and layout and the needs of a diverse workforce, many of whom may well not be spending five days a week in the office. Factors such as longevity, sustainability and cost-effectiveness are all increasingly important, but the overwhelming factor still appears to be the quality of the design and the alignment with the client's brand and corporate personality.'
