Collaboration
Teamworking within the office assumes an increased level of collaboration, and more traditional office spaces tended to provide this in meeting rooms. These, however, restricted the level of collaboration so we now prefer to 'team' within the wider open plan. There are many exciting products available to assist us in this collaboration but we need to tread carefully as they can disrupt quieter open-plan functions. Providing noisy and quiet zones will be beneficial but this may not be possible and furniture items can be specified to create acoustic barriers within the open plan.
Touchdown spaces
Collaboration spaces include touchdown tables, informal meeting spaces and project areas. Touchdown spaces are effective for laptop users when they don't need to use a larger second screen and they can be used for project work or as an alternative work setting. They also work within a hybrid office planning model to provide cover for short-term spikes in occupancy.
